JaMIN Studio’s academy in Trench Town has received a US$10,000 donation from music executive Joe Bogdanovich to support its first group of nine students. The contribution is covered by Caribbean National Weekly and in an October 28 Jamaica Observer follow-up.
Caribbean National Weekly reports that the students will receive training at no cost through a Pro Tools User Certification Course connected with Avid. The Observer says courses are scheduled to begin in November, with musician Stephen Stewart tutoring the students.
The support focuses on the technical work behind recordings: audio engineering and music production. It offers a practical route into an industry deeply connected with Trench Town’s history.
Bogdanovich told Caribbean National Weekly that his contribution followed a visit to the refurbished facility. JaMIN’s management describes the wider aim as creating professional opportunities while strengthening the community’s place in reggae and music production.
