Delroy Lindo is calling for stronger public and private investment in Jamaica’s film industry as he completes production on “Jabari’s People,” the Jamaica Observer reports.
The film is his feature directing debut, and he also appears in it. Its story follows a teenager from New York who goes to live with his grandfather in Jamaica after his mother’s death.
Lindo told the newspaper that employing Jamaicans was a priority. His appeal puts attention on the creative workers, local businesses and stories that can help build a lasting screen industry on the island.
