Pon De Floor, Major Lazer’s collaboration featuring Vybz Kartel, has reached Silver status in the United Kingdom. World Music Views reports that the British Phonographic Industry certified the track on October 23 for 200,000 units from combined sales and streams.
The publication identifies the award as Kartel’s third UK song certification. The milestone arrives 17 years after the 2009 release, a recording that brought Jamaican dancehall vocals into Major Lazer’s electronic sound with Afrojack involved in its production.
Its reach extended further when elements of the recording appeared in Beyoncé’s Run the World (Girls). The new certification adds a measurable UK milestone to the song’s long international afterlife.
