Mr Vegas and Mikie Bennett Recognised With Jamaica’s Order of Distinction

Mr Vegas and songwriter-producer Michael “Mikie” Bennett have been recognised with Jamaica’s Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer.

Mr Vegas, whose name is Clifford Roy Smith, received his honour at the October 19 National Honours and Awards ceremony at King’s House. The Jamaica Observer reported that the singer described the recognition as a humbling milestone after decades in reggae and dancehall.

DancehallMag also reported Bennett’s recognition, noting Bounty Killer’s public tribute to the producer and songwriter’s contribution to Jamaican music. The honours draw attention to both the performers and the studio professionals behind the country’s recordings.
