Jamaica’s Little Theatre is set to improve its sound facilities through a $5 million contribution from Scotiabank that will also support training in technical production.

According to the Jamaica Observer, the funding will help purchase new audio equipment while providing learning opportunities for students at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and residents of surrounding communities.

Little Theatre Foundation chairperson Marisa Benain said the support would strengthen productions and help pass technical skills to a new generation.

The theatre opened on Tom Redcam Avenue in 1961 and has provided a stage for the National Pantomime, dance companies, musicians and other Jamaican performers.
