Entries for the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s 2027 competitions will open on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The commission confirms that the new cycle includes the National Festival of the Performing Arts, Jamaica Festival Song, Jamaica Gospel Star and Miss Jamaica Festival Queen.
The announcement invites individuals, schools, institutions and community groups to prepare their submissions. It comes as Jamaica looks ahead to its sixty-fifth anniversary of Independence in 2027.
Culture Minister Olivia Grange announced the opening at the Marcus Garvey Awards for Excellence in the Performing Arts, where established performers and schools were recognised. The commission describes the competitions as pathways for developing skills, confidence and connections across the creative sector.
Online registration is due to begin through the JCDC entry platform on November 1. Applicants should consult the rules and deadlines for their chosen competition; the opening date does not establish a single closing date for every category.
