Jahmark and the Soulshakers draw on classic Jamaican ska for No Sorry fi Maga Dog, a recording produced by Mike Irwin at Roughsounds Studio in Redondo Beach, California.
In an October 22 Jamaica Observer interview, Jahmark linked the song to a familiar Jamaican proverb and explained his preference for the horn-led approach associated with the Skatalites.
The Kingston-born performer formed the band in Jamaica during the 1980s before a period in Japan and a move to Southern California. The latest interview puts the song and its influences in focus; it is not an announcement of an October 22 release.
