D’Angel has received the key to the City of Tamarac and a Broward County honour, according to the Jamaica Observer’s October 17 report. The recognition brings a South Florida spotlight to the Jamaican performer’s career and community work.
Born Michelle Downer, the Spanish Town artiste described the honours as deeply personal after years of setbacks and perseverance. She credited her mother, her son and her faith with helping her continue.
D’Angel said she intends to keep representing Jamaica through her music and conduct as she builds on this milestone.
