Nineteen artistes have confirmed participation in Saint Lucia’s 2026 Chanté Kwéyòl competition, scheduled for October 24 at Serenity Park in Sans Soucis.
Each contestant will perform one song in Kwéyòl with accompaniment from the Xtreme Band. The competition welcomes different musical styles, including cadence, reggae, calypso, ballads, R&B and Dennery Segment.
Gordon “Chacom” Leon started the event in 2012 as a Kwéyòl calypso competition. It expanded to all genres in 2015 and has helped produce more than 100 original Kwéyòl songs, according to the organisers.
