VP Records’ Rastaman 50 tribute is scheduled for November 6, 2026. The Wailers Trio project marks fifty years since Bunny Wailer’s Blackheart Man, Peter Tosh’s Legalize It and Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Rastaman Vibration. It also draws from the group’s earlier Upsetter recordings.
Fig Tree, the project’s opening single, revisits a Blackheart Man album track. Blvk H3ro sings lead alongside Cen’c Love, Bunny Wailer’s daughter. The recording was made in Trench Town with production from Maxine Stowe, Dave Green and Jermaine Williams.
Stowe described the concept to the Jamaica Observer as a way to bring music from three distinct catalogues to younger listeners. Dahvid Slur and J Written are also among the Kingston artists giving new performances to the material.
The album’s anniversary framing connects the music with Rastafari’s emphasis on African identity and self-determination. The first single offers a direct family link to one of the records that inspired the project.
